I'm Leaving

"Don't look at me like that! I'm leaving you." she said. She turned the photograph face down on the dresser and continued to brush her ash blonde hair. She noticed a few strands of grey creeping in but not enough to worry about just yet. Once she settles in LA, she can search out a quality hair salon for a touch up. Vera applied the Raspberry Burst lipstick to her full lips and blotted them on a tissue. She ran a long enameled nail over her Gwen Steffani eyebrows, stood up and walked over to a full-length mirror on her closet door. She ran her hands up her waist cupping her full breasts. " Not bad for forty-five, Not bad at all,” she muttered. There are plenty of men out there that would still love to get this body between the sheets. Vera reached up and took down the powder blue and sand colorblock day dress she had selected for the trip. It had a slightly scooped neckline with loose front pleats and a belted waist. This dress and her matching Simone Rocha wedges were perfect for her first class flight. “You needn't look so surprised you know. You dared me to leave. What was it exactly that you said? If you try to leave me, I'll kill you! Well? I'm waiting. It's now or never Jack.” She looked at his reflection in the mirror, his naked body stretched out on the disheveled bed, eyes staring at the stipple ceiling in disbelief. A long thin boning knife sticking handle deep in his chest. “I didn't think so." She pulled the dress on over her head. She reached behind her back, pulled up the zipper and tucked in the designer label. Vera turned on her fashionable heels and wheeled her luggage out the bedroom door without so much as a good-bye or a remorseful thought.
